The new Cleveland Hibore driver XLS has the biggest ever head ever made from the Cleveland . The head is 12% bigger as the model from last year and creates a Moment of Inertia (MOI) that is an incredible 13% better as the model from last year. The new MOI is up to the maximum allowed by the R&A .As many of the new drivers this year the new Cleveland driver has a lower centre of gravity and Cleveland make the claim that this driver is the first ever driver with a face centred sweetspot . For the average golfer that means that shots that are not hit in the middle will provide almost the same result and the driver has the biggest sweetspot from any Cleveland driver produced up to now , gone is the Cleveland Logo from the clubs crown and is replaced with a dual alignment system. The driver comes with two standard shafts the red and gold from Fujikura’s Fit-On M . However Cleveland offer 5 different shaft as custom options Aldila, Fujikura, Grafalloy, UST, Graphite Design and Mitsubishi .
The Cleveland driver is available with 3 different models the tour which has a 2 degree open club head face and increased weight in the toe of the club , obviously the driver is designed for the better golfers who can shape the ball in both directions . The normal version has a little bit of a pear shaped and a neutral weighting system basicallay designed to hit a long straight shot . The Draw version is definitely one of the best anti slice drivers on the market not only is the internal weighting biased to a draw , but the club head is 3 degrees closed and the club head itself has also a slight offset , definitely the perfect driver to straighten out the slices .
Cleveland have also introduced a new improved hybrid . This new model for 2008 has a much greater offset as its predecessor basically designed to create a square clubface at impact. the new look is very appealing as it creates the visual impression of an iron especially because the leading edge is a lot closer to the hosel.
